2010 Fall Tryouts on Aug. 10th

SAN RAMON, CALIF. – The 2010 Fall tryout for the Valley Stompers–Williams will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10th, 4-8pm at San Ramon Valley High School. Please complete the online show of interest form on the Tryouts page before attending a tryout. A second tryout will be added if needed, and individual tryouts can be arranged by contacting Joe Williams at 415-250-5319.
Stompers Win Berth to the 2010 Premier National Championships

STOCKTON, CALIF. – The Valley Stompers qualified for the 2010 Premier National Championship Tournament to be held in Southern California August 9-14, where the championship game is to be televised on ESPN and all games will be internet streamed or tracked. The Stompers qualified by winning one of six berths at the Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) qualifier held in Stockton on June 25-27. A total of 22 teams competed for the coveted berths.
With a little luck and some well played softball, the Stompers won their berth by winning two games in their flight over AASA and the Strike Zone. Through the luck of the tournament draw, the Stompers received a first round by in their flight and had to wait for the winner of the AASA/RR Gold game before beginning their tournament. read more>>
Memorable Start at Memorial Day Classic

MANTECA, CALIF – The question about whether or not the Stompers would be able to start their season was answered Wednesday when the California Grizzlies fell to Newark Memorial. The bad luck for the Grizzlies was good news for the Stompers as three girls were released from their high school season and were eligible to play with the Stompers in the RR Gold Memorial Day Classic (MDC) tournament.
The Stompers started off their travel ball season with an 8am, 9am, and 12:30pm Saturday pool schedule—and the moans could be heard from miles around because of the early morning wakeup. Those moans quickly turned to cheers as Andi Quilalang's four hit shutout performance, with support by an RBI by Jessica Catson and a late inning RBI double by Olivia Haney, gave the Stompers their first win of the season over the Roseville Heat.
Game two put the Stompers up against the CC Comets. A dominant outing in the circle by Katelyn Linford lead the way with a one hit shutout. The Stompers bats started to come to life as well as they pounded out eight hits, including triples by Katelyn and Joelle Williams, who was 3 for 4 in the game. Also contributing with an RBI single was Serena Wong, who was added to the Stomper roster to make the minimum nine players available for Saturday’s games. read more>>
Travel Ball Season Begins…Or Does It?

SAN RAMON, CALIF. – The 2010 valley stompers are scheduled to start their summer campaign at the RR Gold Memorial Day Classic (MDC), however, those plans may be be put on hold as 7 of the team members may still be competing in their high school North Coast Section (NCS) Championships.
Olivia Grewal and her #1 seeded Bishop O’Dowd Dragons have earned a bye in the Division III playoffs and won’t play their first game until Saturday May 29, the first day of the MDC. Six other players in Division I of the NCS have a round one game Wednesday night, and with wins would also be unavailable for day 1 of the MDC: Joelle Williams, Andi Quilalang, and Jessica Catson of the #3 seeded California Grizzlies take on Newark Memorial; Bit Whisler, Sarah Weber, and Carly Weisenberg of the #8 seeded Monte Vista Mustangs take on Castro Valley.
The games will be watched with mixed emotions as all the teams have what it takes to go all the way, but everyone is excited to start the summer season.
High School Softball Begins

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. – As the Valley Stompers – Williams’ winter workouts come to a close we want to wish the best of luck to the team as they begin their first year of high school softball. Eleven members of the team have begun their inaugural high school seasons with the exception being Olivia Haney, the lone 8th grader, who is preparing for the summer campaign playing with the Valley Stompers – Chase squad. The players are split among four area high schools as follows:
Bishop O’Dowd – Olivia Grewal
California High – Andi Quilalang, Jessica Catson, Joelle Williams, Katelyn Linford
Monte Vista – Carly Weisenberg, Elizabeth Whisler, Kat Tomsic, Sarah Weber
San Ramon Valley – Kelsey Nyland, Marie Hunt
The players will compete against one another throughout the season which should make for some interesting clubhouse chatter. Once again good luck to everyone and see you all on the field.
